What is Breast Cancer Awareness Month? Held each October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month strives to educate about and raise awareness for screening and prevention of this deadly illness that impacts one in eight American women annually and more than 2 million globally. Studies indicate that up to 30% of early-stage cancers eventually metastasize (spread outside their original location in the breast), thus making Breast Cancer Awareness Day an opportunity to spread information regarding metastatic disease research needs.
